Carpe Drink 'em

In 1967, at the tender age of 6, I discovered the power of Social Networks when I became a charter member of what was arguably the worlds first: The Bazooka Joe Circle of Friends. However the cost of the annual membership (100 bubble gum wrappers) proved unsustainable given my dentist-fathers abhorrence for gum chewing, so I was left no choice but to resign my regional coordinator position at the age of 8.

For the next 38 years I drifted directionless in search of community affiliation.

As CEO of a small interactive agency, I helped lead the development of the first B2B community online for the salon industry and client Clairol professional, and the first online community in the non-profit space, for an organization called the Million Mom March.

The idea for a community for Scotch Lovers occurred to me in 2005 during a search for a hard to find whisky that is a favorite of mine and my father. The search revealed that the brand had gone extinct, and it was then that I decided to harness my Internet experience to the noble cause of rescuing endangered scotches… primarily for my own use, once the clock nudges past 6 (PM, usually).  In May 2008 ForScotchLovers.com went live and was successful beyond my wildest dreams.

The success of ForScotchLovers.com led me to consider other potential untapped social network opportunities. Then one weekend, while traversing the coast of Maine with a friend, I was introduced to Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Tequila by a barkeep at a saloon that specialized in fine tequila. I  was shocked at the smoothness and drinkability of this spirit.  My previous experience with tequila was one of a lick of salt, choking down the spirit, sucking on a lime, then my body shaking like a soaking wet dog.  But this was different...it was smooth...sophisticated and imminently sip-able and enjoyable.

So I set my sites on the world of Agave-based spirits, and helping to spread the gospel of what I think is the most misunderstood spirit at the bar.  I've met some great friends, many of whom are Founding Advisors of ForTequilaLovers.

I live in Piermont NY with my amazingly patient and tolerant wife, and my four kids who I idolize as only a proud father can.
